Research fellow type A (fixed term) at the University of Bologna since March 2016, the main research topic is small animal surgery. Since March 2018 she started an Alternate Residency in Small ANimal Surgery (ECVS) at the University of Turin and Utrecht and she got the ECVS diploma in February 2023. Among others, the main interest is neurosurgery and in particular the surgery of the vertebral column and of the pituitary gland. Moreover she takes an active part in the in the clinical and surgical activity of the University Veterinary Hospital of the DIMEVET, Alma Mater Studiorum, as soft-tissue, orthopaedic and neuro- surgeon
TRAINING
She graduated cum laude in Veterinary Medicine in 2010 with the thesis “Transphenoidal hypophysectomy in the dog and in the cat”. The cases of the thesis were collected at the Department of Clinical Sciences of Companion Animals, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, Paesi Bassi, from September 2009 until January 2010 thanks to a scholarship for the writing of the graduation thesis abroad from the Department of the Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Bologna .
Active part in the organization of a “Neursurgery Seminar in the dog and cat” together with Dr Luciano Pisoni, in Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Bologna, Italy, 7-8 April 2011.
In June 2011 she wins a Scholarship “Training on experimental surgery on animal models” at the DIMEVET, University of Bologna with Prof A. Spadari as supervisor.
In January 2012 she starts a PhD with a project titled “Trans-sphenoidal hypophysectmy in the dog and in the cat” at the DIMEVET, University of Bologna, tutor Dr. L. Pisoni.
From March until June 2013 she is a visitor to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Utrecht University, The Netherlands and she performs an intership mainly in orthopaedic, neurosurgery and soft-tissue surgery with the supervision of Prof. B.P.Meij. During this period she develops a project about the CT of the pituitary gland in dogs affected by the pituitary-dependent hypercortisolism togheter with Prof. B.P. Meijj, Prof G. Voorhout and Dr G.C.M. Grinwis that will be published din 2016.
Active part as assistent in the organization of the Veterinary Neurosurgery Advanced Course, Cremona, Italy, 25-26 July 2014.
Speaker at SCIVAC/SIMIV (Italian Society of Internal Veterinary Medicine) congress “Poliuria and polydipsia” with the title “Management of the patient with pituitary macroadenoma”, Cremona, Italy, 7-8 March 2015.
The 8th of March 2015 she had the defence of PhD thesis in Veterinary Sciences titled “Pre, intra and post-operative management of thanssphenoidal hypophysectomy in dogs”
From July until December 2015 she wins a scholarship sponsored by Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Lombardia e dell ’Emilia Romagna “Bruno Ubertini” on the project “A renal transplant model designed to identify non invasive kidney injury biomarkers and urinary exosomes of acute rejection and nephrotoxicity. A study in a swine lymphocyte antigene (sla)- defined strain of pigs”.
From March 2014 until February 2016 she works as surgeon at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (24 H) of the University of Bologna, tutor Prof. A. Capitani.
Since 2018 Alternate ECVS Residency at the University of Turin and Utrecht under the supervision of Prof Buracco and Meij. The Alternate Residency was completed in 2022 and in 2023 she passed the board exam.
Since March 2024 she is Associate Professor in Clinical Veterinary Surgery.
ACADEMIC CAREER
Since March 2016 she is a research fellow type A (fixed term) for VET/09 (Clinical Veterinary Surgery), at the DIMEVET, University of Bologna, taking active part of the Small Animal Clinical Service as surgeon.
Since 2021 she is Research fellow type B (fixed term) for the same Department.
Since March 2018, she started an Alternate Residency of the European College of Veterinary Surgeon at the University of Turin and the University of Utrecht.
Since March 2024 she is Associate Professor in Clinical Veterinary Surgery.
TEACHING ACTIVITY
She takes parte of the teaching in a module of Veterinary Clinical Surgery and Orthopaedics (Modulo 7, 69954- Laurea Magistrale a ciclo unico in Medicina Veterinaria, Scuola di Agraria e Medicina Veterinaria, Università di Bologna).
She takes part of the teaching "Tecniche chirurgiche specialistiche e riabilitazione negli animali da compagnia" in the module 4 with the title "Chirurgia toracica: principi e tecniche specialistiche", anno 2022-2023
