PhD Student

Department of Industrial Chemistry "Toso Montanari"

Academic discipline: CHIM/12 Chemistry for the Environment and for Cultural Heritage

Curriculum vitae

During his three-year thesis training in INDUSTRIAL CHEMISTRY, the doctoral student carried out a study of Ru- and Mg-modified NiLaAl-based catalysts for CO2 methanation, conducting catalytic tests in a fixed-bed reactor and using catalyst characterisation techniques such as XRD, H2-TPR, surface area determination by N2 adsorption and desorption.

During his Master's thesis training in LOW CARBON TECHNOLOGIES AND SUSTAINABLE CHEMISTRY, the PhD student collaborated with the Centro Ricerche Produzioni Animali (CRPA) of Reggio Emilia in the environmental impact assessment by means of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of a pilot-scale prototype plant for the conversion of the liquid fraction of pig digestate into fertiliser (struvite-MgNH4PO4∙6H2O). Title: “Life cycle assessment of nutrient recovery from the liquid fraction of pig manure digestate via struvite precipitation”.

Evaluation:110/110.

The doctoral student is currently conducting research in the Environmental Chemistry research group of the Department of Industrial Chemistry. The main topics of his research concern the analysis of environmental impacts using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology and the study of wastewater treatments for the abatement of emerging pollutants. The doctoral student has various collaborations and consultancies with regional and national bodies to his credit.

The doctoral student's research work has led to the development of several papers exhibited at national and international conferences and the submission of an article to the Journal of Cleaner Production.

Member of the Communication Commission of the Department of Industrial Chemistry.

Prize for the best dissertation awarded by the Division of Chemistry Environment and Cultural Heritage of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), Milan, August 2024.
