Curriculum vitae

(Bologna, 1959), architect, design historian, graduated from the University of Florence in 1988 with a historical thesis on the figure of Luigi Caccia Dominioni, supervisor Giovanni Klaus Koenig.
Her thesis was the starting point for the realization, in 2002, of the anthological exhibition on the work of the Milanese architect held at the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona, curated by Fulvio Irace and Paola Marini. For the occasion, she was entrusted with the curation of the section on design, as well as other general aspects of Caccia Dominioni's work.

In 2011, she obtained a PhD in Product and Communication Design, IUAV University of Venice, with a thesis entitled: The protection of design between patent and copyright, supervisor Prof. Raimonda Riccini.

Contract professor at several Italian universities (Politecnico di Milano, University of Bologna, University of Ferrara, IUAV of Venice), since 2015 he has taught History of Design at the Three-Year Degree Course in Design at the University of the Republic of San Marino. He has taught History of Design in masters funded by the European Community, in international Summer Schools organized by the University of Bologna and in Professional Training Courses funded by private and regional bodies.

Since 2015 he has been a professor of the Design Methodology module within the Integrated Laboratory of Industrial Design II, Three-Year Degree Course in Industrial Product Design at the University of Bologna.

In October 2016 she was invited by Prof. Lou Yongqi and Prof. Lisha Ren – College of Design and Innovation, Tongji University, Shanghai (China) – to participate in the Design History and Contemporary Research Forum, a program of meetings organized within the EMERGING PRACTICES CONFERENCE 2016 (EPC2016), held in Shanghai from 20 to 25 October 2016.

From 2021 to 2023 she held the role of expert supporting the scientific structure of the Degree Course in Design at the University of San Marino. In 2023 she was part of the scientific committee of Corpi Ospitali. Converging bodies, spaces and materialities, Hospitality Lab of the Republic of San Marino at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition, Venice Biennale 2023.

Since 1 July 2023 she has been part of the structured staff of the University of the Republic of San Marino as a fixed-term researcher. Competition Sector: 08/C1 – Design and technological design of architecture, Scientific-Disciplinary Sector: ICAR/13 – Industrial Design.
In the same year, she was appointed vice director of the Three-Year Degree Course in Design.
Since 2024, she has been a professor of Design Criticism at the Master's Degree Course in Interaction and Experience Design at the University of the Republic of San Marino.

She carries out research in the field of the history of industrial design, innovation and technological culture, many of her studies have been the subject of national and international conferences. Over the years, she has published in industry magazines, and is the author of essays in volumes edited by other authors.

She combines her research activity with a freelance profession in the field of interior design and installations for exhibitions and museums, with particular attention to issues relating to the conservation and protection of industrial archives. He has designed the installations for several temporary exhibitions and museums, for public and private bodies including the Museum of Industrial Heritage in Bologna (2000) and the MUST and the Historical Museum of SACMI Technology in Imola (2004).

In the field of industrial design he collaborated from 1988 to 2007 with Dino Gavina and the companies he created: Simon International and Simongavina Paradisoterrestre; his work ranged from issues related to industrial production to aspects related to the sale and display of products.

In 2010 he curated, in collaboration with Daniele Vincenzi and Pablo Comunicazione, the scientific project and the installation of a series of events on the figure of Dino Gavina, entrepreneur and man of culture, a prominent figure in the history of Italian and international design. The main event was Dino Gavina. Flashes of design set up at the MAMbo, Museum of Modern Art in Bologna.

After this experience, in the following years, other exhibitions followed on the occasion of the Bologna Design Week and Art City-Bologna Fiere events concerning different aspects of the history of design linked to the city of Bologna: 2015, Objects with a history - sixty seventy, OTTO gallery; 2016, Ultramobile. The freedom of Dino Gavina, Galleria Farini Concept; 2017, Tribute to Caccia. Luigi Caccia Dominioni in Bologna, Corte Isolani; 2017, Scatto Libero. Since 2013 he has collaborated with Cassina Spa, one of the most important Italian and international companies in the design supplies sector, as a consultant for the Cassina-Simon collection.
