Matteo Casari is Associate Professor at the Department of the Arts of the University of Bologna, where he teaches Theatres in Asia, Performing Cultures of Asia, and Organisation and Economics of the Performing Arts. His work has long focused on
performance practices in Asian cultural contexts, with particular attention to
Japan. In recent years, his research has expanded to explore the interaction between performance and technology, with a focus on the
use of robotics in the performing arts and the aesthetic, cultural, and relational implications of this encounter. He is the Director of the Master’s Programme in Performing Arts Entrepreneurship and the Scientific Director of the journal
Antropologia e teatro.
