Mariateresa Veltri is adjunct professor of EU law and post-doc research fellow at the University of Bologna, where she conducts research in the field of immigration and asylum. Her research project, entitled "University corridors: from the Italian experience to a European model", aims to identify an innovative link with the EU sponsorship schemes, starting from the analysis and evaluation of the UNI.CO.RE Italian program. She is also part of the Global Community of Practice on Third Country Education Pathways, promoted by the Global Task Force on Third Country Education Pathways and collaborates with diverse international and local NGOs and UN agencies in the field of complementary pathways and community sponsorship.

Education and work experience
She graduated cum laude in Law at University of “Roma Tre” (2012), where she obtained her Doctorate in Legal Discipline, public area (2018). In Rome she also received her LL.M. degree at University of Roma “La Sapienza” (2014). Since 2020, she has been teaching assistant in immigration law (University of Pisa), where she has also collaborated with the migration research area of Dirpolis Institute (Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies).
She has been research assistant at Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and Faculdade de Direito de Vitòria, Brasil (Fall semester 2012, Spring semester 2013, Winter session 2014), fellow student at Seton Hall University, NJ, USA (Summer 2011), and visiting fellow at Erik Castrén Institute, Helsinki (Summer session 2008). Since 2015, she is immigration attorney and since 2020 legal expert for Defence for Children International Italia. Since 2021, she has been coordinator of the Young Research Lab of the Italian “Academy of Law and Migration” (ADiM, University of Tuscia).
Research interests
Her research interests include immigration and asylum policies, legal migration, community sponsorship, border management, social and cultural rights, citizenship and pathways to inclusion, EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, human rights litigation, children's rights, child friendly justice. She is author of papers and editor of scientific blogs in Portuguese, English and Italian.
