Useful guidelines for preparing the application for a curricular internship and thesis internship

First of all, it is suggested that curricular internships should be avoided for bibliographic research or similar activities to be carried out at the university. Indeed, the aim of the curricular internship is to provide students with an experience alternative to classroom teaching outside of university halls and rooms.

The curricular internship replaces a teaching activity present in the equivalent study plan for CFU (Credits). Therefore, experience in a company with specific activities consistent with those of the Study Course should be preferred.

The rules for internships are reported below:

Rule #1: The curricular internship can be carried out in the academic year in which it is included in the study plan. It replaces a traditional exam with classroom lectures. The contents of the internship activities must be consistent with the teachings of the Study Course in Management Engineering.

Rule #2: The curricular internship for the thesis constitutes a period of study at the host organization with the aim of developing activities (research) aimed at preparing the thesis.

Rule #3: The contents of the activities for both curricular internships and thesis internships must be customized; they cannot be the same for two trainee students in the same host organization at the same time.

Rule #4: Curricular internship and thesis internship are two distinct and personalized activities based on the student/trainee's career.

Rule #5: The two internships (curricular internship and thesis internship) can be carried out at the same organization, but they must have different contents based on the objectives of the internship itself. In essence:

#5a: Thesis internship activities will be dedicated to learning the techniques and methods used at the host organization consistent with the themes of the Management Engineering Study Course;

#5b: Thesis internship activities will be activities aimed at deepening, researching/industrial application of the techniques and methods covered by the curricular internship or new specific activities of deepening research, or industrial application of engineering techniques and methods consistent with the teachings of the Management Engineering Study Course.
