José David's thesis focused on the interconnections between internal and international migration during the Spanish wave of migration in the economic crisis of the 2010s. His work examined migration selection mechanisms and labor market integration patterns. Currently, his research interests are centered on two main areas related to social stratification:
- First, as a member of the research project 'Socio-demographic determinants of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) use among older people in Italy (ICTAGE)', he is studying how multiple dimensions of social stratification differentially impact digital inequalities in later life.
- Secondly, he is interested in studying the effects of return migration on the social mobility of migrants and their descendants from the historical migrations of the 1950s-1970s.
