Orthopedic and Trauma Surgeon, PhD student at the University of Bologna.
He carries out his clinical activity at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute in Bologna and conducts research in the field of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, with a particular focus on meniscal treatments, multiligament reconstructions, knee osteotomies, knee and hip prostheses, prosthesis revisions, and periprosthetic infections.
Education
Graduated in Medicine with honors (110L) from the University of Bologna. During university, he completed an optional 3-month course in human anatomy at New York University (NYU), conducting anatomical studies and dissections (final exam based on American standards with a grade of A). He ranked first in the national Italian specialization test among candidates from orthopedic schools, out of over 15,000 applicants. He has been involved in clinical and research activities at Clinic 2 of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute under the guidance of Professor Stefano Zaffagnini.
He completed further training abroad in two separate periods:
-
12 months at Pittsburgh, PA, USA (UPMC Sports Medicine) under the supervision of Prof. Volker Musahl and Freddie Fu, conducting clinical and biomechanical research on meniscus transplants, meniscal injuries and repairs, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery, posterior cruciate ligament surgery, tibia and femur osteotomies, knee realignment osteotomies, robotic surgery, and the treatment of knee injuries in professional athletes and those with high functional demands (American football, soccer, and ice hockey).
-
6 months at Helios Endo-Klinik in Hamburg (Germany) with a particular focus on knee and hip prosthetic surgery, knee and hip prosthesis revisions, with a special interest in the treatment of knee and hip prosthetic infections and complex cases. Special attention was given to the identification of knee joint infections.
