Giacomo Russo earned the Bachelor and Master Degree in Electrical Engineering at University of Bologna in 2018 and 2020 respectively.
Since November 2020 he is a Ph.D. student in Electrical Engineering.
Since March 2024 he is a PostDoc researcher at the University of Bologna.
His research interests comprise finite element modeling, as well as experimental analysis, of superconductors and artificial intellingence techniques for applied superconductivity, with particular regard to "flux pumps": contactless superconducting power supplies for HTS and LTS magnets.
For the University of Bologna, he has been involved in the experimental campaign of the project “DRYSMES4GRID - Development of a cryogen free cooled 500 kJ / 200 kW SMES demonstrator based on MgB2”, funded by MISE (Ministero dello sviluppo economico).
He is a member of the COST Action CA19108, named "High-Temperature Superconductivity for Accelerating the Energy Transition", and of ESAS – European Society for Applied Superconductivity.
