Curriculum vitae

Tenure-track Assistant Researcher (RTT) in the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences (DIMEC), University of Bologna, Forlì and Ravenna Campus.

Full pathologist, working in Santa Maria delle Croci Ravenna Hospital, AUSL Romagna, he conducts his research in the field of neoplastic and non-neoplastic pathology of liver and biliary tract, gastrointestinal tract, urologic and male genital systems.

 

Training

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery cum laude in 2004 at the University of Bologna.

Specialization in Pathology in 2009 at the University of Bologna.

PhD in Surgical Sciences in 2014 at the University of Bologna.

 

Academic career

In October 2018, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification (for Associate Professor), concurrent sector 06/A4 (Pathology). ASN 2016-2018 call for applications, 5th quarter.

In September 2022, he is declared Lecturer in the subject for the degree course of Medicine and Surgery, discipline Pathological Anatomy.

From October 2024, Tenure-track Assistant Researcher (RTT) in the University of Bologna.

 

Teaching Activities

He conducted ad hoc lectures for the course of Medicine and Surgery and at the School of Specialization in Pathological Anatomy, University of Bologna.

From October 2023 to September 2024 Contract Professor with the University of Bologna for Pathology modules at the Forlì and Ravenna campuses.

 

Scientific Activities

He participated and participates as PI and co-investigator in research programs including: "Liver pretransplant biological age and age-mismatch between donor and recipient as new predictors of transplant outcome" (PRIN 2008), "Innovative approaches to the diagnosis and pharmacogenetic-based therapies of primary hepatic tumors, peripheral B- and T-cell lymphomas and lymphoblastic leukaemias" (Region-University project 2010), "Tissue analysis (histologic, ultrastructural and molecular) of hepatic and renal grafts as predictors of transplant outcome, including stenosis" (Current Research 2021 project).

He has participated and he is currently involved in national and international collaborations, including study on stem cells in the field of vascular biology with M.I.T. of Boston (Prof. Thilly, Prof. Gostjeva, USA), study on machine learning on kidney donor biopsies with the University of Cologne (Dr. Becker, Germany), study on liver transplantation in patients with cholangiocarcinoma (lead by Dr. Claasen, Canada).

Author of more than 110 original scientific papers indexed on PubMed, and several chapters in scientific books.

Since 2018, member of the Italian Association for the Study of the Liver (AISF).

Since 2018, member of the Italian Society of Anatomic Pathology and Cytology (SIAPEC).

Since 2018, member of the Italian Society for Organ Transplantation (SITO).

Since 2019, member of the Italian Group for Cholangiocarcinoma (GICO).

Member of the Editorial board of the scientific journals BMC Cancer, Biomedicines, Frontiers in Oncology, Cancers.
