Education
Obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Economics in 2004 from the University of Bari. In 2006, he completed a Master's in Organic Certification of Agri-food Systems at the University of Bologna. He earned a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics and Policy in 2010 from the University of Bologna, after a study period at the Agriculture and Food Market Research, Institute for Food and Resource Economics at the University of Bonn. In 2016, he attended the Master's program in Business Intelligence and Big Data Analytics at the University of Milano-Bicocca.
Academic and Professional Career
An economist by training, he specialized in the application of big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in the fields of agriculture, economics, and agri-food sustainability. He is currently a Tenure-Track Researcher at the Department of Wellness, Nutrition, and Sport at Pegaso University. In 2018, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor for the AGR/01 sector - Agricultural, Food, and Rural Economics.
Research and Consulting Activities
He has been collaborating for several years at national and international levels on multidisciplinary projects focused on processes, methodologies, and techniques for advanced data management and analysis. He provides consulting and corporate training in Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence. He collaborates with institutions and research bodies on European projects and international cooperation projects in the areas of sustainability, territorial development, and enhancement of agri-food supply chains.
Teaching Activities
He is Adjunct Professor of Statistics at the University of Bologna (DISTAL) and of Food Business Economics and Management at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Department of Life Sciences). He has held courses and seminars at CIHEAM Bari, ITS Tech&Food, and various Confindustria training institutions on topics related to agri-food economics, data science, and business management.
Institutional Activities and Appointments
Since 2019, he has been an Expert in Professional Area (EAPQ) for the Emilia-Romagna Region. He has provided consulting services for various institutions and international projects, including CIHEAM Bari, FAO, and projects funded by the European Union. From 2010 to 2016, he was a member of the foreign certification commission of ICEA (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification).
