After graduating at the "Canova" High School in Treviso, Andrea Franco graduated (three-year and master's) from the "Ca' Foscari" University in History, magna cum laude, with two theses on the Ukrainophile and Slavophile thought of the historian Kostomarov. On the same topic he deepened his studies on the occasion of his PhD, conducted at the University of Udine, and concluded in 2013.
He then began teaching, first in a private high school (History, Philosophy, Russian), then at the University, as an adjunct professor: from 2016 to 2023 at the University of Macerata, at the University of Padua (2022), at the University of Modena and Reggio-Emilia (from 2024) and at the Pegaso Telematic University (from 2024).
His interests range from the theme of the birth of the Ukrainian national mouvement in the nineteenth century to the history of Russian thought. He also deals with the history of sport in Russia/USSR, in particular skiing (from its remote origins to 1960) and fencing. He has also worked on the history of European railways in the nineteenth century.
