In the last 5 years, he has performed approximately 1,500 surgeries, primarily in the field of spinal surgery.

Since 1/10/2008: Member of the SIOT (Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology) working group on Bone Metastases and contributor to the SIOT guidelines on the treatment of Bone Metastases.
1/11/2009: Co-author of the SIOT guidelines on the Treatment of Soft Tissue Sarcomas.
Since 1/10/2012: Member of the SIOT working group on Bone Metastases and co-author of the SIOT guidelines on Vertebral Metastases.
Since 4/12/2018: Member of the Technical Group of the Emilia Romagna Region for rare tumors of the head and neck.
Founder and President of the PROBONE ITALIA ONLUS Foundation, a foundation for the treatment of Vertebral Tumors.
Since 2018: Associate Member of the AOSpine International Knowledge Forum Tumors and, since August 2022, Member of the Steering Committee of the AOSpine International Knowledge Forum Tumors. The Complex Structure of Spine Surgery directed by Dr. Gasbarrini is a reference center for AOspine for spinal diseases.

CONFERENCES: From 1992 to today, he has participated in more than 200 national and international courses and conferences as a Speaker and Lecturer.
RESEARCH PROJECTS:
From 1/12/2011 to 30/11/2015: Principal Investigator of the Ministry of Health's "Targeted Research Project" RF-2009, titled "Comparative effectiveness of treatments of degenerative spine disease." As part of this project, an educational video on the treatment of degenerative diseases was produced, titled "Degenerative Diseases of the Lumbar Spine."
30/09/2015: Director of the conference sponsored by the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute titled "Degenerative Pathology of the Lumbar Spine - The treatment: What - How - When - Why", as part of the RF-2009 project titled "Comparative effectiveness of treatments of degenerative spine disease."
2018-2022: Co-PI for the Ministry of Health's "Targeted Research Project" RF-2009 titled "qSINS: quantitative revision of the Spinal Instability Neoplastic Score including CT-based assessment of spinal condition and finite element modeling of vertebral strength. A prospective clinical study."
2019-2022: Head of the Operating Unit within the EURONANOMED project "Next generation antibacterial nanostructured osseointegrated customized vertebral replacement." PI: Dr. Milena Fini.
Since 2023: Head of the Operating Unit within the project "METASTRA- Computer-aided effective fracture risk stratification of patients with vertebral metastases for personalized treatment through robust computational models validated in clinical settings." PI: Prof. Luca Cristofolini.
CLINICAL STUDIES: Since 2011, responsible for 18 clinical studies approved by the Ethics Committee and conducted at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute.
