Valeria Vignali has a background in civil engineering and holds a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering. She is associate professor at the Department of Civil, Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering (DICAM) of the School of Engineering of the University of Bologna. Her research interests concern road, railway and airport infrastructures, with particular reference to the analysis of the road-drivers interaction by innovative technologies. She authored numerous scientific papers published in international journals.
From 2021 to 2024, she was a member of the Board of Directors of "Formula Imola S.p.A. (Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari of Imola)".
Since 2021, she is a member of the Board of Directors of Consiglio di Amministrazione del Consorzio Azienda Multiservizi Intercomunale (CON.AMI) of Imola.
