Valeria Raimondi has a PhD in Urban Studies from the Gran Sasso Science Institute in L'Aquila, Italy. The interdisciplinary approach of her work is at the crossroads of urban and political geography, as well as critical border, migration, and citizenship studies. Her research interests revolve around temporary reception of migrants in Europe, focusing on migrant solidarity and activism, squatting, self-organisation and cohabitation.
She currently holds a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of History and Cultures, Geography Unit, at the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on the Balkan migration route as part of the ERC project called “The Game: Counter-mapping informal refugee mobilities along the Balkan Route” (https://site.unibo.it/thegame/en). In addition, she works as an adjunct professor of Geography and Political and Economic Geography at the University of Bologna.
