Born in 1988, Stefano received his M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry (cum laude) in 2012 from the University of Padova (supervisors Prof. Scrimin and Prof. Prins). His thesis work dealt with the identification of a transesterification catalyst from a dynamic library of molecules through a self-selection approach.
In 2013 he joined the group of Prof. Helma Wennemers (ETH Zürich) for his doctoral studies on the use of peptides for the controlled formation of supramolecular nanostructures. He was awarded the title of Doctor of Science (Dr. sc. ETH Zurich) in 2018.
In October 2017, he moved the group of Prof. Alberto Credi at the Center for Light Activated Nanostructures, (CLAN, University of Bologna and CNR) as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Since January 2022 he is assistant professor at the department of Industrial Chemistry of the University of Bologna (CHIMIND).
Stefano is coauthor of 19 publications in international journals and has been invited to present his scientific results at 5 conferences and symposia. He participated to over 25 international and national congresses presenting oral and poster contributions. He regularly serves as referee for international journals.
His research contributions has been recognized by the "Franco Scandola Young Investigator Award 2023" from the Italian Photochemistry Group (GIF) for his contributions to the field of photochemistry, and by the "NEST Prize 2022" of the National Enterprise for nanoScience and nanoTechnology (NEST) of the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. He was awarded an "honor mention" of the Primo Levi award of the Italian Chemical Society and a poster prize at the International Symposium on Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry 2015 (Strasbourg).
From 2022 to 2024 he teaches Inorganic Chemistry of the Environment and from 2025 Inorganic Chemistry (B.Sc. in Chemistry and Technology for the Environment and Materials) and General and Organic Chemistry (B.Sc. in Agricultural Technologies).
