Simon is a fourth-year PhD candidate in Political Science at Unibo. His research centres around political representation, the news media, and decision-making processes, attaching particular importance to the determinants of political response. His ongoing projects investigate how news media impacts policy representation and the role of media in policymaking during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methodologically, he leverages a wide range of quantitative methods, focusing particularly on text analysis in newspapers and digital observational data. He is dedicated to advancing computational methods within the conceptual lines of Political Science, aiming to expand the research questions addressable through Computational Social Science.
Before his PhD, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social science at Humboldt University, Berlin, and completed traineeships with Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung (Cyprus, Israel) and the Joint Research Centre, European Commission (Italy).
