Short Bio

Riccardo Pronzato is a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Bologna. He holds a PhD with honours from IULM University and he was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge (UK) and Visiting PhD Scholar at RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia). His research is mainly situated in the fields of digital sociology and critical algorithm studies. He analyses power asymmetries underlying the production of algorithmic media, how individuals relate to digital platforms, and the implications of algorithms/IA in fields such as health and everyday life. Currently, he is working on projects aiming to co-design an e-learning platform for caregivers of patients with dementia and exploring artificial intelligence and dementia care in practice, thus examining the implications of AI for caregiving practices and the future of healthcare. Moreover, drawing on a critical pedagogy framework, he is working on developing strategies to promote forms of critical data literacy.
