I am a PhD student at the University of Bologna, supervised by Prof. Enzo Spisni. I hold a Master’s degree in Health Biology. My research focuses on human physiology, particularly on natural substances with anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. I study their effects in vitro and in vivo, aiming for potential human applications.
My main project involves single components of essential oils that exhibit selective antitumor activity on colon carcinoma (CRC) cells, while not affecting normal cells. I have also explored their pharmacokinetics and investigated their potential in neuroscience, thanks to a research stay at the Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research, University of Coimbra.
Additionally, I have worked on projects using natural substances to address gastrointestinal conditions, such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), gut dysbiosis, etc. My research also examines how human nutrition and xenobiotics impact physiology.
