Academic discipline: PHYS-01/A Experimental Physics of Fundamental Interactions and Applications

Short Bio

Full professor at the University of Bologna since 2014 and associate since 2005, he carries out his research in the field of nuclear and sub-nuclear physics, participating in important international initiatives.

He is a member of the ATLAS collaboration in which he deals with luminosity measurements, measurements on the Higgs boson and research in the field of SUSY theories.

He is the spokesperson for the FOOT collaboration since 2022. The collaboration deals with fragmentation measurements of light nuclei in an energy regime relevant for oncology therapies with ions and for radiation protection in deep cosmic space.

His research activity is also on thin silicon detectors for tracking, on electronics and on acquisition systems.

He collaborates with various international and national research centers: CERN, DESY, GSI, CNAO. He is the author of numerous publications and educational books.

The teacher is available at the end of every lesson for short questions on all aspects of the courses and is available for reception (approximately) on Friday, h 15:00-17:00, at his office in the Department of Physics (first floor, room 172bis), via Irnerio, 46, Bologna.
