The research topics of my PhD in Chemistry will mainly concern:
- Photoredox catalysis: development of reactions promoted by light through absorption by suitable photocatalysts (metallic photoredox catalysis and organic photoredox catalysis)
- Use of earth abundant metals: many organic reactions require the use of precious and hard-to-source metals. In our group we study reactions catalyzed mainly by earth abundant transition metals, belonging to the first transition series (Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni and others).
- Stereoselective synthesis and catalysis: development of photoredox and non-photoredox synthetic methodologies for the enantioselective synthesis of organic compounds.
