Curriculum vitae

Greta Bagnolini graduated in pharmaceutical chemistry and technology from the University of Bologna in 2016. In 2017, she joined Prof. S.L. Ciurli’s group as a predoctoral research fellow. In 2021 she received her PhD degree in biocomputational, biotechnological, pharmaceutical and pharmacological science at the University of Bologna, with a research fellowship funded by the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), in Prof. A. Cavalli’s group. During that time, she was visiting PhD student at the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS), division of Drug Design and Optimisation (DDOP) in Prof. A.K.H. Hirsch’s group. From 2021 to 2023, she joined Dr. A.E. Hargrove’s group at Duke University as a postdoctoral research fellow. Since 2023 she is a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Bologna funded by PNRR and PRIN. Her main scientific research focuses on the development of small molecule anticancer therapeutics. As medicinal chemist, she contributed to the establishment of synthetic lethality as paradigm for anticancer drug combinations by helping the synthesis of classes of inhibitors of RAD51-BRCA2 protein-protein interaction to be used in association with PARP inhibitors. As a postdoctoral fellow, she expanded her scientific interest to small molecules targeting non-coding RNA, contributing to the synthesis of scaffold-based libraries and RNA-degraders (RIBOTACs) with potential antiviral and anticancer applications. In 2022, she received the HIPS EuroPhD Certificate. She is a current active member of the communication team of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Division (DCF) of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI).
