Giovanni de Ghantuz Cubbe is a teaching tutor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna. He is a research assistant at the Technische Universität Dresden, where he completed his doctorate in Political theory and history of ideas with a thesis on
Rechtspopulismus, Nation und Territorium. AfD in Ost- und Westdeutschland, Lega in Nord- und Süditalien. He collaborates with the Chair of History of Political Thought at the Faculty of Humanities, Philosophy and Communication of the University of Bergamo. He is a member of the Deutsche Vereinigung für Politikwissenschaft (DVPW) and of the Associazione Villa Vigoni - Centro italo-tedesco per il dialogo europeo. His research interests include the history of political thought in Italy and Germany at the turn of the 20th century (with a focus on political realism and elite theory), democratic elitism, the transformation processes of contemporary Western democracies, right-wing populism and, more generally, the evolution of political scenarios in Italy and Germany.
