Giovanna Gilleri is adjunct professor in the Bachelor of European Studies (
BAES) at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna. She is also a postdoctoral research fellow in international law and Spanish language and translation at the Department of Legal, Language, Interpreting and Translation Studies, University of Trieste, and Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law, Université Catholique de Lille (Lille and Paris). She researches in the theory and practice of gender and human rights law from the perspective of critical legal feminist, queer and psychoanalytical studies, currently in the context of the PRIN PNRR project ‘Rights and Prejudice: Linguistic and Legal Implications of Gendered Discourses in Judicial Spaces’ (
GenDJus). Other areas of interest include the right to mental health, human rights indicators and comparative human rights law. Her monograph
Sex, Gender and International Human Rights Law: Contesting Binaries has inaugurated the 'Feminist and Queer International Law' Routledge series.
