Associate professor at the University of Bologna since 2005, he carries out research in the field of economics. In the past he has dealt with non-linear dynamics, the coordination of expectations in dynamic economies and the evolution of social norms. Current research interests focus in particular on the interpretation of the evolution of inequality, on climate change and developing countries. Lately his research focuses on the effects of climate change on the industrialization processes of the lest developed countries.
Formation
Graduated in Economics in 1987 at the Catholic University of Milan, he obtained a Master of Arts in 1991 at the New School for Social Research in New York, a PhD in Economics in 1993 at the University of Pavia and a PhD in 2000 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Delta) in Paris.
Scholarships
In 1987 he obtained a scholarship from the Confalonieri Foundation; in the years 1988-89 and 1989-90 he obtained a scholarship from the Institute "Luigi Einaudi"; in 1998-99 he obtained the scholarship "Training and Mobility of Researchers" of the EU.
Academic career
In 1996 he became a researcher in the scientific sector SECS-P/01 Economia Politica, at the Catholic University of Milan. Since March 1, 2005, he has been an associate professor at the University of Bologna, where he is incardinated on the campus of Forlì.
Scientific activity
He has participated in several research programmes including: Social Norms and Intertemporal Choice (FIRB, 2012-2014), Corporate Social Responsibility and Distributive Justice (PRIN 2007), Incentives for innovation, vertical differentiation and semi-collusion (PRIN 2000), Oligopolistic markets, innovation and vertical differentiation (PRIN 1998).
Visiting professor at the University of Cergy-Pontoise in June 2004.
Referees for some international and Italian journals in the field of Economics.
Institutional activities and academic positions
From November 2009 to October 2012 he was president of the Course of Study in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs.
Member of the Teaching Commission of the Faculty of Political Science "Roberto Ruffilli" from March 2006 to October 2012.
From 2007 to 2010 he was representative of the Associate Professors in the Polo Council of Forlì.
Since 2013 he has been a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of the Course of Study in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs.
