Francesco is an applied economist (PhD) with extensive experience in empirical research on regional development issues. His research addressed macroeconomic and structural microeconomic topics, including inequality and redistribution dynamics, the determinants of firms’ growth, the evolution of innovation networks, and the implications of banking regulation for bank behaviour.
He has held research fellow positions at the University of Milan, the University of Bologna, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Naples Federico II, and the JRC of the European Commission, as well as visiting positions at the Luxembourg Income Study and the University of Manchester. Francesco also served as a policy analyst at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development.
His current projects explore the socio-economic consequences of financial development, the regional dynamics of economic inequality, and the factors influencing the growth of the social economy.
