Ester Sigillò is a Marie Curie Global Fellow at the University of Bologna, where she leads the HYBRIS project on transnational Islamic activism. As part of the project, she will be a visiting scholar at the New School for Social Research in New York and SciencesPo Paris. Her research interests include Political Islam and Islamic activism in authoritarian contexts. She earned a PhD in Political Science from the Scuola Normale Superiore (2018), conducting research at the IRMC in Tunis. She was a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute and a postdoctoral researcher in the ERC BIT-ACT project (2020-2022). She has published in Mediterranean Politics, The International Spectator, Third World Quarterly, IJMES, and BJMES. Ester has authored two monographs: Rethinking Civil Society in Transition: International Donors, Associations and Politics in Tunisia (AUP, 2023) and L'attivismo Islamico in Maghreb (Carocci, 2024).
