My research focuses on toughening mechanisms for laminate CFRPs through polymeric nanofibrous or quasi-nanofibrous non woven interlayers in order to increase the interlaminar fracture toughness while not compromising the thermal properties of the modified composite. In this frame, the electrospinning tecnique is used for the mats production, and a complete chemical and thermomechanical characterisation of both the membrane and the reinforced CFRP is generally performed (including SEM, DSC, TGA, DMA and mechanical tests).
