Doris Höhmann is Associate Professor in German Language, Translation and Linguistics at the University of Bologna (Department of Interpreting and Translation, Forlì).
Her research focuses mainly on linguistic variation, methodological issues in empirical research, second language teaching and learning, bilingual lexicography, LSP and domain-specific communication in areas including law, tourism and health. Recently her research interests have expanded to include the creation and optimization of plurilingual script-based communication tools in plain language.

PhD in German Linguistics, within an international PhD Programme - University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (2005) - University of Graz, Austria (2007). Doctoral Thesis on linguistic variation in legal communication ("Zur stilistischen und lexikalischen Variation in verschiedenen Textsorten des Verwaltungsrechts").

MADegree (laurea quadriennale) in Foreign Languages and Literatures, University of Lecce. Main subjects: Literature, Linguistics, Philosophy, Sociology, History of Art. Thesis on bilingual communication: “La Comunicazione Bilingue”.
