Associate professor at the University of Bologna, Dpet. of Philosophy. From 2020 to 2023, Senior Researcher on a fixed-term contract (RTDb) and MSCA-IF Global Fellow. He conducts research in the field of Sociology and Science and Technology Studies (STS), with a particular interest in the relationship between digital infrastructures, organizational processes, climate change, and urban transformations, studied through ethnographic/qualitative methodologies.

Education:

He graduated in Communication Sciences (2003, University of Siena) and completed a Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Research (2009, University of Trento).

Academic Career:

He began his career as a research collaborator at the de Marchi Foundation (2007-2009), then worked as a research fellow at the University of Trento (2013) and IUAV - University of Venice (2014) on topics related to urban policies, aging, territorial medicine, creativity, and innovation. He moved to Ireland, working as a postdoctoral researcher at Maynooth University (2015-2017) within the "The Programmable City" project, focusing on the relationship between software, data infrastructures, urban management, and urban space. After the project, he moved to Belgium, working as a research manager at the Urban Studies Institute, University of Antwerp (2017-2020), participating in H2020 projects, particularly ITN (Innovative Training Network) on mobility, urban planning, solidarity, and diversity in cities. Since 2020, he has been a Senior Researcher on a fixed-term contract with the University of Bologna and a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellow (2020-2023) with the research project INFRATIME (www.infratime.eu ), in partnership with the University of Tokyo and now works as an Associate Professor at the same Department.

Research:

He has collaborated in various research projects in Italy and abroad as a research fellow and postdoc, including "Penelope - Le trame emergenti del tessuto urbano" and "AETAS - Active aging, Empowerment, TecnologiA, Salute" (CARITRO Foundation, Social Sciences Call 2007 and 2012); "L’impresa creativa nell’economia della conoscenza" (FSE Call 2014); "The Programmable City" (ERC-2012-AdG-323636-SOFTCITY). He is currently the Global Fellow responsible for the MSCA-IF-GF project Infratime and a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo (2020-2022). He also serves as a referee for international and Italian journals in the fields of science and technology studies, organizational studies, and urban studies.

Membership in Scientific and Editorial Committees:

Since 2010, he has been a member of the editorial board of the journal "Tecnoscienza" and since 2022 he is co-Editor in Chief of the Journal

He collaborates as an Associate Member at the Urban Studies Institute (University of Antwerp).

Awards and Recognitions:

2016 - Ulysses Programme Award (Irish Research Council) with the exchange project "Reshaping Cities through Data and Experiments."

2020 - Marie Skłodowska Curie Global Fellow (Grant Agreement No. 892522).
