I was born in Cesena, Italy, on the 17th January 1977.
I graduated in Civil Engineering in March 2002 with first class
honours at University of Bologna, discussing a thesis in the field
of traffic engineering.
In January 2003 I started my Ph.D. at University of Bologna
(Dep. of Civil Engineering) working in collaboration with the local
research unit, whose main fields of study are transport planning
and management, traffic engineering and transport technology and
economics. During my Ph.D. I attended also various specialised
courses, among which:
- “Corso di formazione professionale nel settore del
trasporto merci e della logistica”, ISTIEE, Trieste,
9-14/6/2003;
- “Airport and Airline Economics” , ITMMA - Univ. of Antwerp,
28/2-3/3/2005;
- "Regional and Low-Cost Air Transport: Opportunities and
Challenges”, Univ. of Westminster, London, 18-20/5/2005,
In Winter 2004/5 I attended the traineeship program in at the
European Commission in Brussels, DG Energy & Transport, dealing
with EU transport policy and intermodality of goods,
From March 2005 to March 2006 I collaborated as stagiaire in
Rome at the Network and Fleet Planning Division of Alitalia
airlines.
I received the Doctor in Transport Engineering in May 2006, with
a thesis in the field of air transport.
In 2006 I started a scientific collaboration (duration: 6
months) with Rete Autostrade Mediterranee, dealing with activities
aming to implement the EU programme for the development of
Motorways of the Sea in the Mediterranean area.
From October 2006 to October 2011, I collaborated as Post-Doc
holder to the research and teaching activities of the transport
research group at University of Bologna, for the development of
studies and researches concerning co-modal sustainable transport
systems, with special focus on Personal Rapid Transit .
Currently, I hold the position of assistant lecturer at the
University of Bologna for the courses in: Tecnica ed Economia dei
Trasporti, Pianificazione dei Trasporti, Infrastructure
Systems - Sustainable Transportation Engineering (Corso di Laurea e
Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Civile; Master Degree in Civil
Engineering).
I am Visiting Professor in International Supply Chain Management at
Vilnius University - International Business School (Master Degree
in International Marketing and Trade, January 2014).
I also work as scientific collaborator with private-public bodies
and asssociations, being involved in the development of transport
and traffic studies and EU-funded projects. Present and/or past
collaborations include as lead partner: Istituto Internazionale
Comunicazioni (IIC, Genoa), Istituto Trasporti e Logitica
(Ravenna), Interporto di Bologna.
