Curriculum vitae

Medical Oncologist and Junior Assistant Professor in Medical Oncology at the University of Bologna since 2023.

He conducts research in the field of thoracic oncology, with a particular focus on identifying new clinical and biological prognostic factors in the context of innovative therapies. His current research is centered on mechanisms of resistance to immunotherapy.

Education

Graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2013 from the University of Parma, he earned a specialization diploma in Medical Oncology from the University of Bologna in 2020. In 2024, he obtained a Ph.D. in Oncology, Hematology, and Pathology from the University of Bologna.

Academic Career

After two years as a research fellow, he became a Junior Assistant Professor in 2023 in the disciplinary field MED/06 Oncology. In march 2025 he achieved the National Scientific qualification as associate professor in the Italian higher education system for the disciplinary field of 06/D3 - Blood diseases, oncology and rheumatology.

Teaching Activities
  • Lecturer for the Master’s Program in Clinical Study Coordination at the University of Bologna (academic years 2022/2023, 2023/2024).
  • Lecturer for the Oncology and Palliative Care module (MED/06) for the Nursing Degree Program – Faenza Campus, University of Bologna, academic year 2023/2024, 2024/2025.
  • Lecturer in the Specialization Schools of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.
  • Provides support and collaboration for teaching activities at the School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Bologna (support for lectures, clinical tutoring for medical students, and assistance with thesis projects).
Scientific Activities

Actively involved in national and international research projects, he completed specialized training in the Thoracic Oncology Department at Gustave Roussy Institute, Paris, in 2019.
He is the author of numerous publications in international journals and has led several observational and translational research projects since 2019.

In particular, he initiated in 2023 a prospective, multicenter observational protocol focused on the oncogeriatric evaluation of cancer patients undergoing innovative therapies (ONC-OLD code), serving as the principal investigator within the PNRR PE06 – HEAL ITALIA project.

Membership in Scientific and Editorial Committees
  • Associate Editor at Frontiers in Oncology (Thoracic Oncology section) since 2022.
  • Served as Guest Editor for special issues in journals such as Drugs in Context, Diagnostics, and Cancers.
Other Activities

In 2023, he was appointed as an expert reviewer for projects within the Translational Cancer Research Programme – PRTK 2022-2023 by the French Ministry of Health and the National Cancer Institute of France (INCa).
