I am a postdoctoral researcher with an interdisciplinary background in international relations, political ecology, and environmental anthropology.
I am currently involved in the ERC-funded project FIREPOL - The Politics of Wildfires, led by Prof. Lorenza Fontana, at the University and Polytechnic of Turin.
My previous research explored the relationship between extractivism and identity formation in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
I hold a PhD in Political Science and International Relations from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies. I have been research fellow at the American University of Iraq - Sulaimani and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. I am also a founding member of the Italian Network of Kurdish Studies.
As a consultant, I coordinated the research component of the UNODC project “STRIVE Juvenile: Preventing and Responding to Violence against Children by Terrorist and Violent Extremist Groups” in Iraq. I also collaborated with the European Commission’s Knowledge Centre on Migration and Demography.
I occasionally tweet here.
