The University of Bologna, particularly the Agricultural Engineering and Biosystems Laboratory at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Technologies, is conducting research on medicinal plants to explore the possibility of increasing active ingredient yields by manipulating the light spectrum in indoor cultivation.
Preliminary results from ongoing experiments were presented during a conference held at the latest edition of Macfrut on May 8 ("Shedding Light on Medicinal Plants: Indoor Cultivation Experiences and Applications in the Pharmaceutical Field").
Specifically, the researchers at the University of Bologna have focused on medicinal plants of significant pharmaceutical interest.
