Curriculum vitae

Dr. Alessandro De Vita graduated in pharmacy at the University of Modena and Reggio-Emilia in 2009. He holds a PhD in science and technology of health products at the same University in 2012. He currently holds the Assignment of High Specialization in Nanotechnology and Sarcoma in IRCCS IRST.He has 11 years of experience in the field of oncological research and nanomedicine. At December 2024 he has published 71 articles in international journals (16 first author/corresponding, 6 last author and 49 co-author and one single author book) H-index=24, Scopus. He is guest editor for the journals Frontiers in Oncology, Frontiers in Pharmacology and Biomedicines. Editor for Italy for the journal Vaccines and member of the editorial board for BioMed Research International and Vaccines. He received the “Sebetia-Ter” international prize awarded by the Parthenope University of Naples for the best thesis in pharmaceutical chemistry (2010), the certificate of merit for distinguishing himself in international research awarded by the Rector of the University of Modena and Reggio -Emilia (2011), the “Vincenzo Bellavista” prize awarded by the COCIF Company as funding for a research project to be developed at the Nanomedicine Department of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Texas (2014), the Silver Medal of Merit from the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George (2014) for having distinguished himself in scientific research, he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Civil Merit of Savoy for having distinguished himself in scientific research (2020), Taobuk Da Vinci Award for the best project for innovative treatment in solid tumors (2023).

He is an active member of the following scientific societies: Italian Society of Pharmacology, Italian Sarcoma Group, Working Group Sarcoma and Musculoskeletal Tumors of Alliance Against Cancer in which he acts as preclinical referent for the IRCCS IRST, Italian Society of Osteoncology , European infrastructure for translational medicine. In 2014 he spent a year at the Methodist Hospital Research Institute Houston where he developed an innovative nanoparticle drug for the therapy of solid tumors subject to an international patent. In 2017 he was a visiting researcher at the Oncological Reference Center of Aviano to deepen his knowledge on the genomics of sarcomas. In 2019, he was a visiting researcher at the Center Léon Bérard Lyon to increase knowledge on bone sarcoma research. He represented Italian oncological and biotechnological research at the BioJapan and Regenerative Medicine Japan international congress held in Yokohama in 2019 where, together with his dean, he activated an international collaboration with the National Cancer Center Research Institute in Tokyo. He has carried out mentoring activities for students from Materials Science and Nanoengineering and Biomedical Engineering, Rice University, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Rome La Sapienza, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Urbino Carlo Bo. He participates as referee for grant applications for the National Science Cancer Poland of Warsaw. He participates as PI, Co-PI and co-investigator in national research projects. He is adjunct Professor in General Pathology at the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology of the Alma Mater Studiorum Bologna University.
