If you are responsible for a person who is not self-sufficient or requires continuous assistance, balancing your studies with caregiving duties can be challenging. The University of Bologna acknowledges this situation and offers tools to help you manage your academic journey.
Who is it for?
This service is available to students residing in Emilia-Rormagna who assist a family member or a person in need of long-term care.
Caregiver student status is granted through a joint call issued by all universities in Emilia-Romagna and ER.GO. This recognition allows access to various benefits and support services.
Available Support Measures
Currently, the following support measures are provided:
- dedicated online meetings with teachers;
- flexibility in exam dates varying based on the organisational characteristics of the programme;
- dedicated tutoring services to assist with study organisation;
- course changes for split classes, enabling better coordination between studies and caregiving responsibilities;
- full tuition fee exemption for students with an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) of up to €35,000, for a period equal to the normal duration of the degree programme plus two additional years, regardless of the number of credits obtained.
Additional support measures may be available on your study program’s website.
To benefit from these support measures, you must obtain caregiver status by applying through the regional call and submitting the required documentation.
How to Apply
