Programme aims
-
The degree programme is structured in a unified manner, in order to allow students to consolidate and expand their knowledge and skills in the subject fields, improving their philology, linguistic, historical-literary and artistic skills, which define their specific programme. The degree programme aims to offer extensive knowledge and adequate tools to form professional experts in Italian, English and French culture, language and literature, able to combine the solid knowledge provided by their subject field (LM-14) with new knowledge, in constant dialogue with other disciplines and with the use of new technologies. The programme objective is to successfully intertwine Italian literary tradition with the European and Extra-European traditions and provide theoretical, critical and methodological competencies aimed to form professionals able to operate in national and international cultural environments.
Graduates will have the required critical thinking disposition to analyse historical-literary events, texts and documents; will have strong writing and oral communication skills; will be able to produce and manage professional oral and written text, in both traditional and digital format; will have the ability to operate individually and as part of a team in different cultural and business environments, within the public and private sector.
Graduates may expand the knowledge acquired in the subject field of the LM-14 programme, by choosing specific curricula that focus on specific skills required by professional profiles that operate in a dynamic society, in which traditional roles need to be redesigned in light of new competencies and new professional figures are being shaped. The teaching activities offered in the different curricula aim to provide competencies related to library, artistic and documentary heritage, considered as assets of incredible civil, social and economic value, worth knowing, preserving and promoting with the adequate knowledge and competence. Thanks to specific teaching activities offered by different curricula, second cycle degree graduates in Italian Studies, European Literary Cultures, Linguistics will acquire adequate transversal competencies to operate in private and public companies in the paper-based and digital publishing sector, an increasingly complex environment due to the adoption of continuously evolving media and technology practices; they will also be able to work in the Cultural Heritage and Art sector and master the processes applied in all the different sectors of the creative industry (libraries, museums, temporary exhibitions and permanent collections, auctions, live art, cultural events); the curricula also include teaching activities designed to acquire competencies and operational skills in industrial and information technology processes of culture and communication, in environments involved in the creation and analysis of cultural phenomena.
The teaching strategy of the programme must therefore adopt different solutions: lectures, seminars, internships and teaching activities in Italy and abroad, able to effectively develop specific cultural, editorial and library competencies, spendable in Italian, European and extra-European multicultural contexts.
Graduates with sufficient credits in appropriate subject groups, will be able to take entrance exams to training programmes to teach, in accordance with the applicable legislation. These curricula include activities designed to provide competencies relevant to teaching and learning processes.
