Laurea (First cycle degree/Bachelor - 180 ECTS) in Building Engineering

The learning outcomes are ensured by a curriculum inwhich students learn to master the methodological and operational aspects thathave historically characterised the training of building engineers, working asdesigner, design manager, production and use of buildings and infrastructures.The curriculum provides solid basic grounding in physics and mathematics,geology, chemistry and materials technology as well as in design and history ofarchitecture. Students will then go on to study more specific core subjects,working constantly throughout the programme to develop the specific methods andtechniques of traditional civil engineering and architecture. The curriculumtherefore includes construction science and technique, geotechnics, hydraulics,technical physics and plants, topography; these are also fundamental fordeveloping the design and managerial skills characterising civil/buildingengineering. At the same time students will also study technical architecture,surveying, architectural composition and urban planning, to develop the abilityto analyse and design buildings and urban environments. Finally, the curriculumcovers the organisation of building sites, providing students with the toolsneeded for the design and safety of sites in various phases of the buildingprocess. Following the curriculum, students will develop skills in the design,redevelopment and management of buildings, works and urban spaces, working withboth new and existing constructions. The programme includes design laboratorieswhich are indispensable not only to test the acquired knowledge but, similarlyto the majority of European countries, to ensure integrated learning, open todialogue with specialists from different sectors involved in the constructionand redevelopment of buildings and settlements, also relating to their energyuse. Their training is completed and integrated with experience gained ininternships and knowledge of a foreign language.
