KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY:
1st cycle degree graduates will have basic morphological, dimensional and functional knowledge as regards the human body, in particular regarding the parts of the body involved in movement, methodologies of human movement and training, the principles of epidemiology, hygiene, traumatology and first aid applied to motor activity, the principles for teaching motor learning to individuals of different genders, ages and physical conditions, theory and teaching methods for introducing individual and team sports and swimming disciplines, in tourism, leisure time and wellbeing contexts.
Moreover, graduates will have teaching, psychological, sociological, legal and administrative knowledge, enabling them to efficiently communicate with practisers, in order to motivate them appropriately and set activities in the right social-economic and legal context.
These knowledge and understanding abilities will be achieved through lectures, practical activities, workshops and home study, especially in the fields of the core curriculum subject areas, and assessed mainly through oral or written examinations, papers presentation and multiple-choice and/or short open-ended answer tests.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND TO UNDERSTAND:
1st cycle degree graduates will be able:
- to use a variety of teaching methods to demonstrate and convey safe and effective physical exercise in tourism-leisure environments, applying the basic principles of Sports Sciences
- to show and/or correct exercise performance and the use of the most suitable generic or specialized equipment, using the most appropriate teaching demonstrations.
- to apply knowledge in order to organise and manage sports programmes specifically adapted to individuals or groups of different ages and physical conditions, within tourism or leisure time environments promoting wellbeing, preventing problems caused by inactivity and stress and obtaining the most from travel or holiday.
- to teach and advise individuals or groups practicing amateur-level sports activities, mainly to leisure or tourism ends,
- to handle situations in which first-aid is needed, for example, in case traumas or accidents related to motor or sport activities.
The ability to apply the knowledge and understanding listed above will be achieved through practical activities, internship and preparation of the final paper/project.
Assessment is carried out through written and oral examinations, reports, etc. in which students have to demonstrate command over tools, methodologies and judgement skills.
Internship activities are assessed through a report about the experience.
JUDGMENT SKILLS:
1st cycle degree graduates will be able:
- to evaluate life-style and behaviour of practisers as well as the risk factors to which they are exposed, within tourism and leisure time environments
- to motivate individuals to quit health bad working and life habits, promoting sport activity aimed at maintaining their fitness and physical efficiency.
- to evaluate fitness and exercise programmes carried out for specific aims and practisers' enjoyment.
Judgment skills are developed especially through practical activities, organised seminars, preparation of papers related to the course units of the Degree Programme, through the internship and the final paper/project.
Assessment is carried out through evaluation of the course units and the level of autonomy and ability to work, also as part of a group, during the activity assigned in preparation of the final paper/project and the internship.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
1st cycle degree graduates will be able:
- to communicate efficiently so that practisers can get the maximum enjoyment, adapting the communication style to their age, gender, cultural level and social status.
- to explain reasons, objectives, benefits and risks related to the sports programme or discipline practiced.
- to communicate the results achieved in relation to the pre-defined objectives.
- to communicate in at least one of the European Union's languages, in addition to Italian.
Communication skills are achieved in different ways in the different course units and evaluated through written or multimedia papers, oral presentations, activities coordinating or participating in work groups, in seminars and assessment of text comprehension.
The European Union language is learned through specific course units and related assessments.
Moreover, the final paper/project offers students an additional opportunity of in-depth study, assessing the skills regarding analysis, data processing and communicating the work carried out. This final paper/project involves discussing a paper on subjects which are relevant to the study programme carried before a committee.
LEARNING SKILLS
1st cycle degree graduates will be able:
- to apply learning methods and tools, in order to elaborate upon the contents studied, to be used both in professional contexts and embarking upon further studies.
- to independently update and expand upon their own advanced knowledge, based on the specific use and progress of sports sciences.
- to use the scientific information necessary for assessing the soundness of their own professional activities, according to the principles of good practises based on scientific facts.
Learning abilities acquired are a result of the entire period of study, and in particular the independent activities provided for during the three-year course, that is, individual and group projects and completing the final paper/project.
The learning skills are assessed:
- through continuous assessment;
- through the assessment of the self-learning skills matured during the internship.
- in activities related to the final paper/project.
