KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABILITY:
Graduates:
- will have basic knowledge of analysis of elementary functions, the concept of limits, the calculation and geometric significance of derivatives, elements of probability and descriptive statistics (which allow for developing a systematic approach to problem-solving and to apply them directly to the work involved in use and management of a data base) with notions of applied IT;
- will be competent in legislation regarding public and private companies particularly as regards the Constitution, the Civil Code and related laws;
- will be expert in contract and company types;
- will have a sound grasp of the static and dynamic behaviour of markets as well as its various forms of competition
- will have knowledge of productive processes and logistics.
The above-listed knowledge and understanding abilities are achieved through lectures, practical activities, case study analysis performed both individually and in groups, supervised home study, in particular in the basic and core discipline groups of SECS-P/01 Political Economy, SECS-P/06 Applied Economics, SECS-P/07 Business Administration, SECS-P/08 Corporate Finance, SECS-S/01 Statistics, SECS-S/03 Statistics for Economics, SECS-S/06 Mathematics for Economics, Actuarial Studies and Finance, IUS/01 Private Law, IUS/04 Commercial Law, IUS/05 Law and Economics, IUS/09 Institutions of Public Law.
Assessment is accomplished mainly by means of oral and written exams.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND TO UNDERSTAND:
Graduates:
- will be able to apply human resource management and personnel coordination techniques to optimise available resources in firms;
- will have knowledge and understanding of financial statements, consolidated financial statements, the study of ratios and cash flow, cost analysis, financial statement analysis, auditing, drafting of financial statements with respect to budget analysis;
- will possess in depth knowledge of basic mathematics and financial skills to perform evaluations related to the establishment of capital and loan repayment and required for warehouse management, econometric tools and basic techniques for a correct empirical analysis of real economic and business phenomena as well as the necessary skills for the use of statistical models in business planning and decision-making;
- will have knowledge of the product particularly as regards its distribution and market positioning;
- will know and understand the main business strategies, their practical application, fund-raising and profit from new investment;
- will be able to work well in a group, settle into a business environment and work with others in the field;
-will be able to draw on different areas of knowledge to tackle topics related to the degree programme.
The achievement of the knowledge and skills listed above is a result of critical consideration of set texts for home study, research case studies and applications demonstrated by teachers, group work on business scenarios, numerical exercises and home study in particular in the core scientific, and similar discipline areas (SECS-P/05 Econometrics, SECS-P/07 Business Management, SECS-P/08 Corporate Finance, SECS-P/09 Financial Management, SECS-S/03 Statistics for Economics), as well as during any internships and during preparation for the final paper/project.
Assessment (written and oral exams, reports and practical activities) require the completion of specific tasks in which students will demonstrate command over skills and methodologies as well as critical autonomy. The internship is assessed by means of a report presented by students and the in-company tutor.
JUDGEMENT SKILLS:
Graduates:
- will be able to understand the features specific to entrepreneurs and the limits and opportunities offered by public regulations which make it possible to identify restricting norms and regulations and to select most suitable professionals either from within or outside the business unit.
Judgement skills are developed particularly through practical activities, seminars and drafting assignments especially in the discipline groups of SECS-P/06 Applied Economics, SECS-P/07 Business Management, SECS-P/08 Corporate Finance, SECS-P/09 Financial Management, SECS-P/10 Business Organisation, and during any traineeships or internships as well as during the preparation for the final paper/project.
Assessment is accomplished evaluating autonomy and ability to work alone and in a group during the case studies and scenarios linked to the programme as well as during any internship and during the preparation for the final paper/project.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Graduates:
- will have good basic knowledge of English (level B1) and possibly of a second foreign language, with a grounding in grammar, listening and reading comprehension, as well as a sufficient fluency for communication with foreign interlocutors.
Communication skills are developed particularly during the course units that require the preparation of written reports and their oral presentation. The above skills are developed furthermore during possible internship/traineeship as well as in the preparation for the final paper/project.
English is acquired during the specific course units and assessed with a final pass/fail test.
LEARNING SKILLS:
Graduates:
- will be able to undertake detailed and advanced study and carry out detailed research.
The learning skills are developed throughout the degree programme, especially during the required home study, during the preparation of individual projects and during preparation of the final paper/project.
Learning skills are continuously assessed throughout the course units, by requiring the presentation of data collected independently and the assessment of self-learning skills matured during the preparation of the final paper/project.
