Physiotherapy graduates will operate autonomously or in cooperation with other healthcare figures carrying out interventions of prevention, care and rehabilitation in the area of motor science, upper cortical and visceral functions subsequent to pathological events of various congenital or acquired aetiologies. Based on medical diagnosis and prescription, they will autonomously carry out the functional re-education of motor, psycho-motor and cognitive disabilities by using physical, manual, mass-therapeutical and occupational therapies.
-
The graduates from the course will be health care operators in the area of rehabilitation operating with professional expertise and autonomy carrying out activities aimed at the prevention, care, rehabilitation and procedures of functional evaluation for individuals and the general public in order to fulfil the duties intrinsic to their relative professional profiles as according to the provisions of article 2, paragraph 1 of law nr. 251 of August 10 2000.
The graduates from the course will have an adequate understanding of the basic disciplines so as to allow them the best understanding of the most important elements at the basis of the pathological processes in the developing phase, adults and the elderly, on which their rehabilitating and/or therapeutical intervention is focused. They must also know how to use at least one of the European Union languages, in addition to Italian, in the field of competence and for exchanging general information.
The educating structures must identify and build as many course units aimed at developing various figures of graduates functional to the professional profiles identified by the decrees of the Ministry of Health.
Through the appropriate selection of the disciplinary fields of the core course units, in particular the qualifying scientific-disciplinary fields, the teaching structures identify the specific educational courses of the healthcare professions included in the class.
In particular, course graduates must achieve all the professional skills hereinafter indicated and specified as far as pertaining to the profile identified by the provisions of the competent ministerial authorities. The achievement of the professional skills is accomplished through a theoretical and practical education, which includes also acquisition of behavioural skills and to be achieved within the working contexts pertaining to the profile, so as to guarantee, on completion of the educational course, full command over all the necessary skills and their immediate utilisation within the working environment.
As integral and qualifying part of the professional training, the practical training activity and clinical internship are of particular importance, conducted under the supervision and guidance of specially assigned professional tutors coordinated by a professor of the highest educational level provided for each professional profile and corresponding to the regulations defined at European level, whereby applicable.
In the field of the Physiotherapist healthcare profession, graduates will be healthcare operators who carry out the duties provided for by the Decree of the Ministry of Health nr. 741 of September 14 1994 and subsequent modifications and amendments; that is, they conduct, autonomously or in cooperation with other health care figures, interventions of prevention, care and rehabilitation in the area of motor science, and upper cortical and visceral functions consequent to pathological events, various congenital or acquired aetiologies.Graduates in physiotherapy, with reference to the physician diagnosis and prescription, and within their competences, develop, also in multidisciplinary teams, the definition of the rehabilitating programme aimed at identifying and overcoming the health needs of the disabled; they autonomously practice therapeutic activities for the functional re-education of the motor, psychomotor and cognitive disabilities by using psychical, manual, mass and occupational therapies; they propose the use of prosthetics and aids, they teach their use and assess effectiveness; they verify the matching of the implemented rehabilitating methods with the objectives of functional recovery; they conduct activities of professional studies, education and consultancies in the healthcare service sectors and in those where their professional skills are needed; they practice their professional activities in public or private healthcare centres, either as employees or as freelances.
