Learning outcomes
At the end of the activity the student is able to: - choose the most appropriate tools in relation to the objective to be achieved; - choose the most appropriate technique in relation to the objective of the service in which he/she is called upon to operate; - identify the complementary professional resources to carry out his/her intervention; - establish the methods for evaluating the effectiveness of the interventions; - analyse the relational and institutional context in which he/she carries out his/her intervention
Course contents
The contents of the traineeship include the following activities:
Activities in the presence of the tutor: participation in interviews aimed at collecting anamnestic data and restitution of the diagnostic and functional profile, participation in reinforcement activities in individual settings or within projects in schools on prerequisites, participation in the assessment of the intellectual, cognitive and learning profile.
Activities in progressive autonomy under the supervision of the tutor: scoring and interpretation of tests and questionnaires for the assessment of the cognitive profile, learning and their prerequisites and of functions such as memory, attention, planning skills and language skills; production of illustrative reports and graphs; collection, input and analysis of research data; analysis of literature relating to the topics dealt with in the research projects in progress; processing of participants' data in application of professional ethics.
In particular, the main psychometric instruments for which skills in administration, scoring and interpretation of results will be acquired are as follows:

The professional contexts of application are the school setting, research setting, diagnostic assessment.
The areas of intervention are general psychology and applied research in psychology.
The target audience includes adults, students, children, adolescents and families.
The professional tools the trainee will acquire are as follows: interpretation of standardised tests relating to cognitive and language functions and learning, the interview, the interview, analysis of self-assessment psychometric instruments and the use of software for statistical analysis.

Teaching methods
The methods used to achieve the competences concern: observation and tutor coaching, participation in discussions with the tutor and/or in teams, practical demonstrations, group activities with other trainees, activities in progressive autonomy guided and supervised by the tutor, scoring and interpretation of tests and questionnaires; production of illustrative reports and graphs; collection, input and analysis of research data.
The location of the activity is the ‘Renzo Canestrari’ Department of Psychology, Bologna campus.
Assessment methods
The tutor will assess the skills acquired by the trainee in itinere and at the end of the traineeship using a standardised procedure prepared by the Department of Psychology, which will result in an award of eligibility valid for access to the Practical Assessment Test.
