Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will know the advantages, disadvantages, and characteristics of the main processes of scientific publishing and peer review, and will have the foundations to stay up-to-date on new sources of scientific information and publishing processes.

1. Official sources of scientific information.

2. Secondary literature.

3. Research tools in medical literature.

4. Database analysis.

5. Editorial publication process.

6. Scientific review processes.

7. Preprint repositories (MedRxiv, BioRxiv, etc.).

8. Communication with the general public.

9. Impact Factor, H-index, and other scientific indices.

10. Big data in medicine.

11. Social media in the scientific field.

12. Artificial Intelligence tools in research.

Frontal lessons.

Assessment methods

The assessment of learning is conducted through a written test that includes multiple-choice questions with 4/5 alternative answers or open-ended questions on topics related to the course objectives. The course is graded on a pass/fail basis, with the final grade being simply "passed" or "not passed". The use of a regular scientific calculator is allowed, but not books, handouts, notes, or the internet.
