Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students will: Know the principles of biomedical ethics and will be able to identify the ethical dilemmas they may encounter in clinical practice

Course contents

1. Introduction to bioethics, ethical dilemmas and practical dilemmas, ethical theories

2. Ethics of the four principles, principle of autonomy

3. Beneficence and non-maleficence

4. Justice and other rules and virtues relevant to the care relationship

During the course, the teaching material will be provided and the presentations of the lessons will be available on Virtuale.

Teaching methods

Lessons, casework discussion.

Assessment methods

The exam will consist of a single test for all the 3 modules.

It will be a written assignment, consisting of 8 closed-ended questions, and 2 open-ended questions.

The questions are aimed at ascertaining the adequacy of the knowledge acquired regarding the topics of the course and the ability to organize and integrate relevant information.

Passing the exam is based on the correctness, completeness, adequacy and articulation of the answers.

At the end of the course the students will receive an example of how the questions will be structured.

Students will have 30 minutes to complete the task and the outcome of the verification will be PASSED or NOT PASSED.
