Course contents

Program

The program is divided, in general, into two parts

The first, of about 6 hours, deals with Therapeutic Patient Education (ETP)

The second, of about 6 hours, deals with aspects related to nutrition and lifestyle in the main chronic diseases.

First part: Therapeutic Patient Education (ETP) is a new educational method aimed at chronic patients, systematic, permanent, integrated with care and centered on the patient, which allows the person to live optimally with his illness. The ETP allows to acquire knowledge and skills of self-management - self-care and adaptation to the disease that improve the quality of life of people. It is addressed to the patient, his family and the caregiver, when present, and allows to adapt the disease to the life of the people. It is centered on the therapeutic relationship with the patient. It allows to achieve results of effectiveness and efficiency for the person and for the Health Service, it also allows the nurse to become an educator-carer.

Contents

- The concept of Therapeutic Education of the patient according to the WHO (1998), new health/patient relationship

- Context of development of ETP and its effects, its historical-normative evolution. Examples of profiles of educated patients and training courses for operators

- The phases of ETP: data collection, diagnosis, educational contract, methods and implementation, evaluation. The application methods are specified for each phase
