Learning outcomes
The seminar aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to excel in international moot court competitions, with specific regard to the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition. Participants will gain insights into the international procedural law, legal argumentation and oral advocacy. The seminar will cover relevant case law, legal research techniques, and strategies for effective presentation in a moot court setting. Additionally, participants will explore the cultural and diplomatic aspects of these competitions, enhancing their overall understanding of global legal practice
Course contents
The first lectures will be theoretical in nature, on the subject of international arbitration and the Vienna Convention (CISG).
In the second part of the workshop, a case from previous editions of the Willem C. Vis Moot Competition will be examined, from the point of view of the claimant and respondent, stimulating students to find arguments and solutions of the relevant issues, in application of the theoretical concepts learned in the first part of the workshop.
Readings/Bibliography
Prima dell'inizio del laboratorio, il docente caricherà su Virtuale il problema che sarà analizzato durante le lezioni e alcuni articoli teorici in materia di arbitrato internazionale e di CISG (tot circa 100/120 pagine).
Teaching methods
The first lectures will be theoretical in nature, while the second part will be practical in nature, with the direct involvement of the participants, who will be called upon to analyze and discuss, divided into groups, procedural and substantive issues related to the Vis Moot case proposed by the lecturer.

Assessment methods
The final test will consist of a written paper submitted by the student to prof. Lupoi within 15 days of the end of the seminar.
In this paper, the student will answer a question related to the Vis Moot case discussed in the lab, from both the claimant and defendant's perspectives. A maximum grade of 20/20 is expected for this paper.
One-third of the final grade (up to 10 points), however, is an expression of the student's participation in class activities.
