Learning outcomes
The seminar is aimed at students interested in international arbitration and international trade litigation. It will be theoretical in nature. The focus will be on the procedural profiles of international arbitration and the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods, i.e. the topics covered by Vis Moot. The aim of the seminar is to provide students with a first theoretical-practical approach to the topics covered and also to select the members of the Unibo team for the Vis Moot. Since it is held in the second semester, it will be possible to form the group that will start working on the competition case after the summer.
Course contents
The first lessons will be theoretical in nature, on the subject of international arbitration and the Vienna Convention (CISG). In the second part of the workshop, a case from previous editions of the Willem C. Vis Moot Competition will be examined, from the point of view of the claimant and respondent, stimulating students to find arguments and solutions to the relevant issues, applying the theoretical notions learned in the first part of the workshop.
Readings/Bibliography
Prior to the start of the workshop, prof. Lupoi will upload to Virtuale the problem that will be analysed during the lectures and some theoretical articles on international arbitration and CISG (tot approx. 100/120 pages).
Teaching methods
The first lessons will be of a theoretical nature, while the second part will be of a practical nature, with the direct involvement of the participants, who will be called upon to analyse and discuss, divided into groups, procedural and substantive issues relating to the Vis Moot case proposed by the lecturer.

Assessment methods
The final test will consist of a written paper submitted by the student to prof. Lupoi within 15 days of the end of the seminar.
In this paper, the student will answer a question related to the Vis Moot case discussed in the lab, from both the claimant and defendant's perspectives. A maximum grade of 20/20 is expected for this paper.
One-third of the final grade (up to 10 points), however, is an expression of the student's participation in class activities.
