Course contents
Laboratory 24. Research methods and data analysis: cultural practices and data
The workshop aims to provide a practical guide to the use of the theoretical and methodological knowledge acquired during the degree course. The workshop will be a path in which the student, starting from the concepts of cultural practice (represented by: cultural consumption, cultural capital, and practices), will come to analyse the representative dimensions of this phenomenon, with the constant support of the lecturer. The first part of the workshop will be a theoretical introduction to the phenomenon of cultural practice.
In the second part of the workshop, we will apply the knowledge acquired in the methodology and statistics courses. Practical exercises will be carried out to define research questions, translate the different dimensions of the phenomenon related to cultural practices into variables, and conduct descriptive analyses (univariate and bivariate) by identifying data sources (open access or accessible on request).
In the final part of the course, useful tools for the dissemination and communication of research results will be presented. The knowledge and skills acquired can be used by the student in other study or research activities.
