Learning outcomes
Students will practice with the use of the microscope and will learn the fundamentals of histopathology. The aim of this course is enabling them in recognizing the microscopic alterations caused in cells and tissues by the pathologic processes.
Course contents
The pathologic conditions already discussed in the General Pathology course will be examined again, in order to display the morphologic changes caused by them in tissues. Students will observe:
- the histologic features of acute and chronic inflammatory reaction;
- the different characteristics of necrosis and tissue repair;
- the alterations caused by atherosclerosis and thrombosis;
- examples of epithelial and mesenchymal neoplastic lesions.

The teacher will explain in detail the features of the pathologic conditions to be examined during each laboratory class.
In consideration of the type of activity and the adopted teaching methods, the attendance of this training activity requires the prior participation of all students in Training Modules 1 and 2 concerning safety in locations of study, [https://elearning-sicurezza.unibo .it/] in e-learning mode.Assessment methods
The final exam will consist in the description of a histological slide. It will be aimed at verifying the student's ability to recognize the main morphological alterations caused in cells and tissues by the pathologic processesdescribed during the laboratory course.
The final grade of the General Pathology course is the average of the grades obtained in the tests of General Pathology and Laboratory of General Pathology.
