Learning outcomes
By the end of this activity, students will show: - the mastery of basic/fundamental topics of psychosocial and organizational research - the mastery of research methods for psychosocial and organizational studies - the ability to carry out a psychosocial and organizational research.
Course contents
The course will consist into three modules:
MODULE 1 “Advanced statistics for research data management” (15h)
At the end of the module students will understand the relationships between research hypotheses, study design, and analytical choices. Students will understand and be able to use and report some advanced statistical techniques applicable in the work, organizational and personnel psychology context. Students will learn how to work with others collaboratively in designing and developing research, and presenting the results.
MODULE 2 “Scientific writing” (15h)
At the end of the module, students will be able to approach reading/writing and evaluating scientific papers critically, write the introduction, aims, and objectives of the RP, find the best title and the most efficient abstract of the RP, and they will be able to present their work effectively to peer audiences. Topics:
- How to read/write/evaluate a scientific paper
- Writing the introduction section, aims, objectives, and research outline
- How to approach the literature review
- How to write the abstract and present your work efficiently
MODULE 3 “Questionnaires” (15h)
At the end of the module, students will be able to create and test a questionnaire and evaluate its psychometric properties to be effective in answering specific research and practical questions.
Topics:
- Developing a questionnaire: Types of Validity
- The process of questionnaire validation
- Designing research activities for a scale's validation and refinement
- Data collection on Qualtrics
- Dataset management and Statistical analyses for scale validation and refinement
- Development of a questionnaire to be used in the professional practic
Teaching methods
Interactive teaching. Individual assignments and group discussions
Assessment methods
The final evaluation will be based on position paper and research paper
